Social Media
Social media marketing is more than creating Facebook and Twitter accounts, it’s about strategies. Like many other marketing business owners engage, developing a marketing plan and measuring the results are applicable for social media as well. We realize marketing dollars need to be spent wisely yet marketing can be much like gambling. When you understand how the game is played and can play it well, you increase your odds of winning.
Marketing your business on a piece of paper does not guarantee results; neither does any other form of advertising. Spray and pray has been the approach in most campaigns and when one works you stick with it. With the shift of communication through Internet and mobile marketing it is time to reassess your approach if you have not already. If your current social media marketing efforts are less than stellar is another reason to reassess your marketing.
Many businesses have started using social media with their marketing and some have found much success with these platforms. Without a proper guide many brands will find they are not as successful, will you be one of them?
An empty table costs money; there is the over head costs that will still be there if a customer is not. The cost of rent, lights, labor, inventory, and many other costs associated with running a restaurant and that empty table.
Here is an example:
If your restaurant had 50 tables and only 25 are filled during lunch, with an average check size of $15.00, the operator had lost about $375.00.
Empty tables x check average = lost revenue.
Multiple that by the days of the week opened for lunch and in a weeks time the potential lost is $2250.00.
Daily average x 6 days = lost revenue. Weekly lost revenue x 52 weeks = $117,000.00 a year.
This is based on only one table turn. Doing the math quickly points out how much you are losing with an empty table and of course how much you could gain with a minimal investment in marketing.
Gauging the return on investment for social media is measurable, like any other form of marketing however have you taken into consideration the other side of social media as well, listening? Listening for what is being said about your brand is also a key part of social media marketing and over looked by many. Positioning your brand to not only tell to sell, listening to what is being said also makes a difference.
Lacking perceptive equals lost time which equals lost revenue. Many operators have their younger staff members manage their social media which is much like the difference between a cook and a chef. A chef creates and manages while a cook produces a product. Not to devalue a cook by any means just making an analogy.
